Are you looking for an opportunity to share your writing? Do you want to create work for a portfolio? Is there a pressing subject on which you just need to share your thoughts?
One of the Honors Program’s many extracurricular opportunities is Honorable Mentions, our student-run quarterly newsletter. Students may submit essays, listicles, creative writing pieces, drawings, and more. It’s a good way to develop your writing and to share works you’re proud of with your peers and Honors faculty. As someone who has submitted to Honorable Mentions in the past, I can personally testify that I have had Honors professors talk to me about and compliment the work I submitted. It’s just as good of an opportunity to meet people and learn how to be a great collaborator. And, if you submit ten pieces to Honorable Mentions, you can earn Honors Leadership.
If you’re interested in participating in Honorable Mentions, consider attending our first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 13th from 3:30-4:30. The group will be meeting in Arts & Letters 106. In this first meeting, we will be talking about the type of work Honorable Mentions features and you will get the chance to share your ideas and experience. The group will meet every other Wednesday for the rest of the quarter:
