Ambiance

The environment was super clean and spacious! The warm lighting and accents of plants made this experience super cozy 🙂 The interior radiated a welcoming warmth, while cascading greenery breathed organic life into every corner, grounding the aesthetic in a serene botanical garden in contrast with the frantic movement of the big city outside its walls. The staff was efficient and kind as well.

Taste

All of their pre-constructed bowl options looked delicious! Typically, I will always customize my bowls so I can make sure every bite is intentional and delicious. To start, I always go for a 2:1 ratio of salmon to tuna because although I like the taste of tuna, I think salmon is far superior. The quality of the fish was amazing and tasted so fresh. For poke places, the turnover rate is crucial. When consuming anything raw, there is always a risk of getting sick, so it is imperative to be selective about where you eat. Although I went more towards evening hours, nothing felt out of temperature or like it was sitting out for a long period of time. I thought all of the vegetables I chose were super vibrant and crunchy. For the sauce, I thought the spicy mayo was a good choice as it helped to bring all of the flavors together. If I were to repeat my order, I would skip the hawaiian poke sauce, as it made the entire bowl taste salty. I thought the proportions were great, as sometimes restaurants skimp on the protein and fill the bowl with rice, but with Mammoth, this was not the case. They are generous for the amount you pay. Overall, I thought this was a great value spot if you are looking for a fresh snack on the way to the Metra station. It made my long commute ten times more enjoyable.
