NOW HIRING: Honors Program Student Blog Editor and Office Assistant!

The Honors Program is now hiring a part-time student worker to serve as an office assistant and graphic designer.

General Summary:

The Student Graphic Designer and Office Assistant will design promotional materials for Honors Program events.  In addition, they will perform general administrative tasks in the Honors Program office and report to the Program Assistant. This position requires excellent graphic design skills as well as the ability to perform customer service-oriented office responsibilities.

Principal Duties, Responsibilities and Other Job-Related Information:

  • Conceptualize and create promotional material for program events and office needs to use on a variety of platforms such as flyers, Instagram, TV monitor, etc.
  • Completion of individual projects as needed (e.g. designing newsletter formats, Zoom banners, t-shirts, or larger scale art projects).
  • Greet guests and answer phones.
  • Schedule advising appointments.
  • Maintain Honors Lounge space by cleaning and keeping space organized.
  • Assist in updating Honors Program databases in Microsoft Excel. 
  • Occasionally meet with prospective students visiting campus. Be available to greet students, answer questions, and give campus tours.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Strong graphic design skills.  Please submit your portfolio with at least three examples of design work in a single file as a supplemental document.
  • Goal-oriented, organized, and comfortable taking initiative with completing daily tasks and special projects
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Canva and Adobe (or the ability to learn quickly)
  • Experience with social media, especially Instagram
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)     
  • Beginner experience with general office skills such as emailing, scheduling, photocopying, etc.
  • Participation in and knowledge of the University Honors Program preferred

Hour requirements/schedule:

Ability to work 5-10+ hours per week on weekdays between 9:00AM and 6:00PM in Lincoln Park (Arts and Letters Hall, Suite 210), in addition to some at-home hours.
