Welcome back to the Boo-Log!! In this post, I list the top 5 candies in the U.S. and my opinions as a lifelong candy lover on whether these sweet treats deserved their spots (top 10 list made by http://www.themost10.com). If you haven’t read part one, which features the candies in places 10-6, go check it out! It’s a frighteningly good read if I do say so myself.

5. Kit-Kats
Kit-Kats!! Who doesn’t love a Kit-Kat? Although they are simple, just chocolate-covered wafer bars, their advertising has made them into a timeless candy that values sharing with others. Their slogan, “Have a Break, have a Kit-Kat,” has been emphasized in many advertisements as someone breaking off (ha, I see what they did there) one of the Kit-Kat bars and giving it to someone else. Encouraging the value of giving is important, and obviously effective as an advertising strategy because my Halloween baskets were always full of Kit-Kats. Also, again, no nuts! Yummy, simple, and encourages sharing through its breakable design and advertisements. Yay Kit-Kats! I still think Twix is better, though. Sorry-not-sorry.

4. Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar
This makes sense logically, because it is usually the first thing most Americans think of and purchase when wanting plain chocolate, but dare I say… basic? Trust me, I love Hershey’s chocolate bars. But it’s just chocolate. I appreciate its simplicity, but I guess I wasn’t expecting it to be above some of the more exciting candies. It most likely earned this spot due to how much they are used in baking, and I do really like treats made with Hershey’s chocolate, so I’ll give it credit for that. By itself, it’s yummy and classic, but not my favorite. I need a candy that gives me some flavor variety and excitement.

3. Snickers
THIS is what I’m talking about!! So many flavors in one nugget of crunchy, chocolate-coated peanuts and chewy caramel. I do really like Snickers. HOWEVER! I am shocked it made it so high up, and Twix didn’t. Twix got 6th place, even though it is just as good as (if not better than) Snickers. Aside from that, for those of us who can eat nuts without breaking out into hives, this is a perfect chocolate treat. Also, the “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” advertising? Genius. It’s brought so many memes into existence. I love you, Snickers.

2. M&Ms
I LOVE M&MS!! They are so tiny, cute, colorful, and fun, plus everyone likes them. There are SOOO many different flavors, and they are all delicious and perfect. The caramel ones? AMAZING. The peanut butter ones? SCRUMPTIOUS. Pretzel ones? DELECTABLE. This is the perfect candy, extremely deserving of 2nd place. I need to go to the big M&M store in Times Square, where you can customize M&Ms. I’ll put a “K” for Kate on a ton of them – it’ll be worth the ridiculously high price.

1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
And the top spot goes to one of my favorite candies of all time: Reese’s cups!!! I’m kind of surprised it got first due to their simplicity, but then again, they are so. Good. The perfect combination of sweet and salty is perfect, and peanut butter lovers everywhere adore this candy (including myself). The pumpkin-shaped ones and the Christmas-tree-shaped ones somehow taste even better than the original cups? Please tell me I’m not the only one who tastes the difference. Anyways, these mouth-watering treats are always the first to be devoured of my chocolate candies on Halloween, and I’m very glad they got the recognition they deserve. I feel like I’ve met many people who dislike Reese’s, but I love them. Well, stay mad, haters, because this peanut butter and chocolate treat just got first.

And that’s the end of my reviews of the top 10 candies in the U.S.A.! I hope everyone enjoyed, even if you don’t agree (which would be crazy. I’m always right. Kidding.) Stay tuned for more Halloween-themed posts and other bewitching content! Have a spooky day!
