Join the Honors Program on Thursday, March 7th for a group outing to see Carlos Murillo’s Killing of a Gentleman Defender at the Theatre School!
Killing of a Gentleman Defender follows the story of Martín, a Colombian-American playwright hired to devise a play with students from Chicago’s South and West Sides about violence in the city. Conflicted by what appears to him to be an exploitative assignment from a Northside institution, Martín and the students instead create a play about the 1994 murder of Colombian soccer star Andrés Escobar, hoping that their metaphor will start a more meaningful conversation.
The play and post-show discussion will be from 7:30-9:30 in the Healy Theatre at the Theatre School. Honors will meet in the Theatre School lobby before the show.
Tickets are limited. Please RSVP only if you are able to attend, and contact Melanie Doweiko at mdoweiko@depaul.edu to update your RSVP if your plans change so that we may offer your ticket to another student. Students who do not show without informing us in advance may become ineligible to attend future Honors Program events.
