A piece of me is dropped off
of the change of a summer breeze
to a brisk autumn wind
the box of summer clothes set aside
collecting dust by the frost of a Chicago winter
Lincoln park sidewalks flanked with chalk
evolves to the decorations of spiderwebs
sprawled across front foliage
a quiet reminder,
time is in constant movement
But there is excitement that comes with change
the enticing decay of leaves
a polychromatic landscape
withering to be sprung again
As the winters draw out
and the cold becomes unbearable,
the hope for the summer sun keeps us going
while we collectively long for those summer days
and the box of summer clothes set aside
the first warm days of spring are promising
when the quad is full of people again,
and the chicago winter has been overcame,
Then the sun rises again, and falls in the cycles of Chicago seasons.
