back and forth i go
My heart has become sore; it yearns for a rest,
but i can barely take a breath anymore
There’s a flame in my chest,
crawling up my throat and drying out all the words.
Is this really what I was made for?
the words ring hollow and i try to swallow
down the hurt.
My heart burns, something I can no longer follow,
exhausted to my core.
But I hold on tight, as if I’m desperate for more.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hold on
Let go
Is this really my fate?
Scream and cry and kiss goodbye
I hold on tight but you slip right through.
I need a clean slate
What must I do?
to earn back your faith
For I’ve lost my own in its wake.
I scream so loud my throat starts to ache;
is this really what it means to have to wait?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
feather falling,
Stepping lightly,
Below the surface
crawling beneath my skin.
the green overcomes me
i lose it all
the sun withers brightly
and the grass torches beneath my skin
i’m
burning,
Burning
BURNING
until I’m completely alone.
But the rain comes again,
cooling my death
And allowing me to start again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
time is but a mere illusion that we seek to understand
we hold on so tightly
but can only achieve peace when we let go
i breathe in and breathe out,
let the sun hit my skin
and feel free
inside
and out
for the first time in a while.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the waves hit my ears,
the rhythm and beat elastic.
the sand billows around me as i run,
sun beating down on me,
warming my skin.
I laugh and grin and smile
and they mirror my love.
We splash until the day goes grey, returning home after a beautiful day
