The Honors Office is hiring to fill a part-time student position. This new Honors student worker will serve as the Honors Blog Editor and Office Assistant.

Honors Program Student Blog Editor and Office Assistant
General Summary:
The Student Blog Editor and Office Assistant will create content for and edit the Honors Program blog, assist with the Inside Honors alumni newsletter, and post events on social media. In addition, they will perform general administrative tasks in the Honors Program office and report to the Program Assistant. This position requires excellent writing skills as well as the ability to perform customer service-oriented office responsibilities.
Principal Duties, Responsibilities and Other Job-Related Information:
- Create weekly content for the Honors blog
- Edit student writing to post on the blog
- Post updates to the blog about Honors Program, university, and city-wide events
- Assist with content creation and layout editing for the Inside Honors newsletter
- Advertise Honors events and opportunities on social media
- Use Canva to create visual media when needed
- Greet guests and answer phones
- Maintain Honors Lounge space by cleaning and keeping space organized
- Occasionally meet with prospective students visiting campus. Be available to greet students, answer questions, and give campus tours.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Strong writing and editing skills. Please submit two writing samples (preferably blog posts or articles) in a single file as a supplemental document. Do not submit samples written by AI.
- Goal-oriented, organized, and comfortable taking initiative with completing daily tasks and special projects
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Experience with WordPress (or the ability to learn quickly)
- Experience with social media, especially Instagram
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Beginner experience with general office skills such as emailing, scheduling, photocopying, etc.
- Participation in and knowledge of the University Honors Program required
Hour requirements/schedule:
Ability to work 5-15+ hours per week on weekdays between 9:00AM and 6:00PM in Lincoln Park (Arts and Letters Hall, Suite 210). This position also allows some remote work.
