New York Giants secure second win of Jaxson Dart era against Philadelphia Eagles

The New York Giants took down the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles 34-17 to get their second win with Jaxson Dart as the starting quarterback. The Giants are now 2-1 with Dart as the starter.

Dart finished 17-for-25 for 195 yards and one touchdown. He also finished with 13 carries for 58 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

The offense scored in every quarter; every quarter also featured a touchdown. The Giants scored 13 points in the first and seven points in the second, third, and fourth.

Although the Giants were without wide receivers Malik Nabers (torn ACL and meniscus) and Darius Slayton (hamstring), the Giants’ receivers finished with 195 yards.

Wan’Dale Robinson had six receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown. Lil’Jordan Humphrey had four receptions for 55 yards, and Theo Johnson ended with two receptions for 27 yards. Their longest receptions were 35 yards, 34 yards, and 22 yards, respectively.

The Giants had 172 rushing yards to end the game. In addition to Dart’s 58 rushing yards and rushing touchdown, Cam Skattebo had 19 carries for 98 yards and three touchdowns.

For the Eagles, Jalen Hurts finished 24-for-33. He threw for 283 yards and one touchdown; he was sacked three times. The Eagles had 73 rushing yards for the game. Saquon Barkley had 12 carries for 58 yards and no touchdowns.

The Eagles had two turnovers in the game: an interception by Hurts and a fumble. The Giants ended with no turnovers.

The Giants were 11-for-16 on third down, having eight passing first downs and 14 rushing first downs. The Eagles were 1-for-9 on third down, with 14 passing first downs and five rushing first downs.

The Giants held the Eagles to zero points in the second half. The Giants intercepted Hurts with only a 10-point lead with 11:36 remaining.

In just three plays and eight rushing yards by Dart and Skattebo — excluding penalties — the Giants extended their lead to 17 with a Skattebo rushing touchdown.

On the Eagles’ next drive, the Giants forced another turnover, a fumble. Dart and the offense had the ball for the remaining 6:50 in the game to secure the 17-point victory.

The Giants’ next game is against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 19. The next week, the Giants and Eagles face off again on Fox.
