i write my own story.
my eyes saw you first and my heart fell second
with one wave of my hand the pen began moving.
i talked more so you listened less
each word invoked less interest
a monologue was born
we argued
i proved i was right and you continued your wrongs
a chapter closed
i knew wrong from the start but i wanted to feel something
so i, an anti masochist
stayed put for my sadist
the end.

About the Author
Hello! My name is Jayvion Cunningham, and I’m currently a sophomore double majoring in Psychology with a concentration in Human Development and Film with a concentration in Screenwriting. My career goal is to establish a private practice after I get my master’s as a child and marriage therapist, while also pursuing screenwriting and writing movies on the side. My goal in this series is to delve into the emotional recession individuals experience due to unique circumstances with each piece exploring how specific factors contribute to a decline in their mental health. Every publication will focus on a different aspect of this recession, allowing for a diverse range of stories. I think this topic resonates me and my progression towards my psych degree as it reflects my interest in how mind works when it comes to the aspect of mental health.
