Enjoy a coffee shop vibe while listening to creative works from our Honors students!
Join the Honors Program for an Open Mic Night! Hosted by the editors of Honorable Mentions, this will be a night to celebrate the writing, poetry, and creativity of Honors students. Stop by and enjoy a cozy, coffee-shop themed vibe, tasty fall treats, and hear the talented student performers or Honors (or consider taking the stage yourself!).
You are welcome to attend solely as a spectator, or perform a piece at the open mic. Any student in the Honors Program is invited to sign up to take the mic and perform!
Performers will be asked to keep their piece to no more than 5 minutes. Ideas for pieces can include (but are not limited to) original poetry, short stories, personal essays, music, stand up, and more.
Snacks will be provided! Attendance earns 1 Honors point, presenting earns 2!

About Performing at the Mic
Performers will be asked to keep their piece no longer than 5 minutes. Ideas for pieces can include (but are not limited to):
- Reciting poetry, whether it is an original work or not
- Sharing a ghost story or other spooky tale
- Reading an original short story
- Reciting a personal essay
- Sharing unique or intriguing research on a topic of interest
- Performing music
- Performing stand-up comedy
- More! Get creative! This is a low-stakes night designed to have fun and explore your creativity and passions!
Coffee-house-inspired fall treats will be provided! Attendance earns 1 Honors point. Performing earns 2!
