See Joe Turner’s Come & Gone at the Goodman Theatre!

Join the Honors Program in an outing to the Goodman Theatre to see Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, with a pre-show discussion led by Professors Amor Kohli and Rebecca Cameron on Thursday, April 18th.

From 5:00-6:00PM, students will meet in Arts and Letters Room 202 for the pre-show discussion. Dinner and tickets will be provided at the discussion. Then, students will head over to the Goodman Theatre as a group for a 7:30PM performance.

Tickets are limited. Please RSVP only if you are able to attend, and contact Melanie Doweiko at mdoweiko@depaul.edu to update your RSVP if your plans change so that we may offer your ticket to another student. Students who do not show without informing us in advance may become ineligible to attend future Honors Program events.

About Joe Turner’s Come and Gone:

A journey of self-discovery leads to salvation in this major revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winner’s masterwork.

On the heels of Gem of the Ocean (2022), expert August Wilson interpreter Chuck Smith revives the second work in the famed American Century Cycle—one of Wilson’s best-loved, most compelling plays. Herald Loomis searches the country with his young daughter to find his estranged wife. But first, he must regain a sense of his own heritage and identity in this story of spiritual and emotional resurrection.

CONTENT ADVISORY: Joe Turner’s Come and Gone contains themes of racism, discussions of slavery, blood and use of the N-word.
