First-year students, we have an exciting opportunity to share with you!
Every year, LAS holds a writing contest and showcase for freshmen and first-years to demonstrate their creative and critical abilities! Interested students can submit an essay, ePortfolio, project, or fieldwork from any of the relevant classes listed below. Selected students will then present their submissions at the May 22nd showcase.
Beyond the distinction of being featured in the Showcase, honorees will also receive a certificate and a $150 award!
Alongside the general prize, DePaul University Library also offers a Library Research Prize to recognize First-Year Program writers who demonstrate excellence in research skills through extensive use of library resources. Entrants for this award must submit a “Research Statement” that reflects on their research journey, explaining their use of library tools, sources, and services. Students can apply for both the general prize and the Library Research Prize.
