Honors Professor Mindy Kalchman and her Inside Out program were just featured by Chicago’s Fox 32 news station! Reporters said the program “captures the transformative potential of education in unconventional settings and how it can bring people from different walks of life together.” Fox 32 also interviewed Dr. Helen Damon-Moore of DePaul’s Steans Center as well as two students in the class, Quincy Hayes and Adam Flores.

Dr. Mindy Kalchman has taught many innovative classes through Honors–her HON 350 class was featured on the blog last year–and the Inside Program is no exception. The program bridges the gap between DePaul students and student inmates seeking a degree. Mindy Kalchman leads these combined classrooms in the Cook County jail–this specific article discusses a math class, but there have also been education classes and classes on community engagement. We are so proud of Professor Kalchman and the work she’s doing for the community!
