Join us this spooky season for Honors’ Fall Quarter Book Club! We will read and discuss Oscar Wilde’s gothic horror novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. On November 2, Dr. Conary will lead readers in a discussion as we consider why this story has continued to inspire morbid intrigue in audiences over a century after its publication.
Before he was imprisoned and exiled by the British government for ‘gross indecency,’ Wilde published his first and only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. Originally censored by his publishers to remove homosexual and queer content, the uncensored edition, written as Wilde intended, is available for rent at the DePaul Library. Read the book on your own time, then join Dr. Conary for a discussion. This is a shorter novel and can be read well within two weeks.
