The first Honors Student Government meeting of the year will be this Friday, September 15th at 2:30 in A&L 207.
HSG will also be meeting on October 5th and November 3rd this quarter.
For those new to Honors, HSG is a board made up of elected student representatives who help plan social and service events, meet with prospective Honors students, and advocate for Honors students in meetings with Honors faculty. Honors Student Government is a forum to plan social, cultural, and service activities; promote unity among Honors students, and foster a community of scholars within the Honors Program. All Honors students are encouraged to attend Honors Student Government meetings and attendance earns you one Honors Point.
The following students are your representatives for this academic year:

Rifqa Alani, President
Rifqa Alani (she/her) is this year’s Honors Student Government president! She is a freshman Health Sciences major. As president of the e-board, Rifqa hopes to honor DePaul’s Vincentian mission and to pay forward the respect and kindness that the DePaul community has shown her.

Ana Gomez, Social Committee Co-Chair
Ana Gomez (she/her) is one of your social committee co-chairs this year! Ana is a sophomore studying Cellular and Molecular Biology with double minors in Chemistry and Spanish. She loves to plan events and hopes to help Honors students relax and have fun this year.

Rayn Chanthaphone, Ambassador Co-Chair
Rayn Chanthaphone (she/her) will be one of the ambassador co-chairs of this year’s e-board. She is a sophomore pre-med student majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry. Rayn hopes to encourage more students to participate in Honors and to help new students navigate college life.

Alina Muzammil, Ambassador Co-Chair
Alina Muzammil (she/her) will also be an ambassador co-chair on this year’s e-board. She is a sophomore majoring in Health Sciences. Alina ran for this position so that she could be a friendly face of the Honors Program for prospective students.

Joana Diaz, Academic Representative
Joana Diaz (she/her) will return to HSG this year as one of our academic representatives. Joana is a senior majoring in Philosophy with double minors in Spanish and Latin American & Latino Studies. She is excited to be a part of the e-board again this year and hopes to be a voice for the Honors community.

Aya Alshubbak, Academic Representative
Aya Alshubbak (she/her) will also be one of our academic representatives this year. She is a senior majoring in History. She hopes to meet more Honors students and work towards the betterment of the program.

Hanna Tariq, Service Committee Co-Chair
Hanna Tariq (she/her) will be one of our service committee co-chairs on this year’s e-board. Hanna is a sophomore majoring in Health Sciences. She looks forward to connecting Honors students to the larger Chicago community and encouraging students to participate in a variety of experiences.

Mollie McCormick, Service Committee Co-Chair
Mollie McCormick (she/her) will also be joining the HSG e-board as a service committee co-chair. Mollie is a sophomore studying Integrative Biological Sciences. She looks forward to organizing events like a beach clean-up day and helping an urban chicken coop.
