The Art of Style on a Daily Basis

The question of ‘what should you wear today?’ should be simple, right?

If there is no occasion with a distinguished dress code or expectations from the people that we will meet in that place, then the decision is basically up to you. What should you wear today?

I love to see how people take this task and make it their own. You can see people with the best fits walking around on a random Tuesday, and you just have to give that compliment. The look in someone’s eyes when they are happy with what they have on is one of the many joys of fashion, in my opinion.

Creative liberties in what you wear never have to include a sewing machine, but can be as simple as adding a new accessory that you would’ve never thought of wearing. The clothes and accessories you buy never need to be expensive or new to be considered unique. The art of style, I believe, is something that is very easy to lose track of in environments where it looks like almost everyone wears the same things.

Not all outfits have to be planned out or even thought of. A t-shirt or hoodie and a pair of jeans goes a long way. A comfortable, neutral outfit is all that you really need to go about your day. Even wearing what you wore to bed is acceptable, for the least amount of thought, to just go about your day. This isn’t a lack of style, but your preference of how you want to feel in your environment.

What if you want to not think too much about what you should wear, yet still care about how you look in social settings? What will people think of when they look at you? How do you want to be perceived?

The clothes you collect and choose to wear play a big role in how people look at you. A love of soft colors, an appreciation for darkness, an expression of one’s culture are all different things that someone can get from the clothes you choose to wear. How should your personal style change when it comes to meeting with a group of your friends? Fancy occasions?

Our identities play a huge role in dictating what we choose to wear and how we want to be perceived. What influences you to dress the way you do?
