Hannah Tariq

Hannah Tariq, an Honors senior majoring in Health Science, has been accepted to present her original research at the National Collegiate Honors Council Research Conference. Her research is on the role of youth advocacy in the fight against gun violence. Hannah will be flying out to San Francisco this November to represent the DePaul Honors Program amongst some of the top undergraduate researchers in the nation.

Congratulations on being accepted to present the NCHC Undergraduate Poster Conference! Tell us a little about your research project.

My research examines the March for Our Lives movement, founded by the survivors of the 2018 Parkland school shooting. I focused on how collective identity and biographical consequences had impacts on the empowerment of advocacy efforts. Professor Laschever was very influential throughout my project. Throughout HON 302, her guidance helped me refine my theoretical framework and create meaningful connections to larger conversations around social justice movements. I’m looking forward to sharing my research with other students and learning more about the other diverse projects being presented!

As a senior, what are your post-graduation plans?

After graduation, I plan to take a gap year and further pursue a career in the medical field and apply to medical school!
